Other Unfair Business Practices in Pennsylvania

Laws vary state by state. Consequently, some business practices that are merely dubious in other states, are illegal in the Keystone State. Importantly, the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law prohibits a seller from promising a buyer compensation for procuring another buyer or referral where that compensation is contingent upon some later event.

In addition, the law also singles out “Chain letters” as an unfair business practice.

The Act also makes it an unfair trade practice to promote or even engage in a pyramid scheme.? Pyramid schemes refer to the many commonplace sales models that require you to buy goods or services. They then promise that you’ll receive compensation for selling the items to others, and they get compensation again if you can get others to sell the goods and services, and so on.

Do you feel that you’ve entered into a deceptive or unfair contract? Did sellers misrepresent goods or services? Don’t give up! If an agent, seller, salesperson, or contractor has cheated you, contact us at the offices of Going and Plank to learn more about your legal rights.
